Wrinkle relaxing injections

Wrinkle-relaxing injections work by preventing muscles from contracting.

It is the contraction of facial muscles that produces lines, wrinkles, and furrows in the skin. These are sometimes referred to as 'dynamic' wrinkles. By preventing the facial muscles from moving these dynamic wrinkles and lines can be reduced or abolished, giving a smoother, softer and fresher appearance.

The most popular areas for treatment are the frown lines between the eyebrows, horizontal forehead lines and the 'crows feet' at the outer edge of the eyes. It is also used for treating other areas of the face, including lines around the upper lip and muscle bands in the neck.

Duration of treatment

The effects of wrinkle-relaxing injections depend on general health, age and lifestyle. Usually the results last from 4-6 months.

The procedure

The treatment involves small injections and takes only a few minutes. There is no down-time and little discomfort. Some redness and swelling may appear at the injection sites but this normally disappears after a few hours.
