Mr Prashant S Govilkar MBBS MCh, FRCS (Plas)
Mr Govilkar graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the Grant Medical College & The J.J Group of Hospitals, Bombay, India. After completion of training in General Surgery, he completed higher surgical training in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the J.J Group of Hospitals and the LTMMG Hospitals, two of the largest teaching hospitals in Bombay, India.
He obtained the MCh. (Plastic Surgery) degree and undertook a Microsurgery training fellowship in Brescia, Italy.
He was awarded the British Association of Plastic Surgeons fellowship for advanced microsurgical training at the Canniesburn Hospital in Glasgow and then undertook specialist training in Hand Surgery & Microsurgical Breast Reconstruction in the UK.
Mr Govilkar was also awarded the fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Plastic Surgery and entered in the specialist register in plastic surgery of the General Medical Council (reg.no. 4258041).
He has specialist qualifications in Breast and Hand Surgery with the European Diploma in Hand Surgery which was awarded by the Federation of European Societies for Hand Surgery. Mr Govilkar has also undertaken specialist training in aesthetic surgery and breast reconstruction both in the UK (East Grinstead) and the USA (Cleveland, Ohio & Charleston, South Carolina).
He is often involved in academic activities having presented and authored over 15 papers in peer reviewed Plastic & Reconstructive surgery journals.
Mr Govilkar provides reconstructive service in hand & wrist surgery (trauma & elective) and breast surgery (cosmetic & reconstructive). His other areas of special interest include post bariatric body contouring surgery, microsurgical reconstructive surgery and facial cosmetic surgery.
