How do I know if this procedure is right for me?

The best candidates for excess skin removal or post-bariatric body sculpting surgery are patients who are eating a well-balanced nutritional diet and are in good health.

Weight loss and BMI should have stabilised, goal weight should have been maintained for several months with a good general fitness level.

How long does Body Reshaping surgery take?

Body reshaping takes place under a general anaesthetic, with a two to four-day stay in hospital. Stitches are dissolvable and will not need to be removed.

Rate of recovery depends upon the individual, but you can generally expect the following timeframes following surgery:

  • Back to work – 2-3 weeks
  • Support garments – 4-6 weeks
  • Exercise & sex – 6-12 weeks
  • Full recovery – 12-16 weeks
What happens on the day of my procedure?

This form of surgery involves procedures on multiple areas of the body to tighten the tissues of the abdomen, thighs, hips, buttocks and lower back. The result is an overall more youthful appearance and contoured body shape.

We normally ask patients to arrive a few hours before their procedure takes place so observations can be taken to ensure you are fit and well and you are given time to relax and settle any nerves.

Surgery is performed in two to three stages and normally takes between 4-6 hours:

  • Stage 1: Excess skin and fat is removed from the buttocks, hips, back and thighs.
  • Stage 2: Excess skin and fat is removed from the buttocks, hips, back and thighs.
  • Stage 3: Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) is performed.
How much does body sculpting surgery cost?

The price of body reshaping surgery will depend upon the extent of surgery you require, which is different for every person. Your surgeon will discuss with you the best options for you and the correlating price of the surgery.

What are the side effects or risks of this procedure?

As with any surgery, there is an element of risk. However, our expert surgeons will talk you through everything before your surgery. Due to the extent of body lift surgery, scarring is inevitable, but should be hidden by underwear and will fade over time.
