Brow Lift London

As you get older, the skin on your forehead starts to lose its elasticity and forehead lines or wrinkles start to appear. Your eyebrows can also droop which may give an appearance of heaviness of the upper eyelids. This can lead to looking permanently tired or “miserable” despite getting enough sleep. This is a common issue in middle-age or older, however the problem can develop in younger people where it can cause distress.

By lifting the brows and therefore the eyelids, a brow lift can reverse the ageing and wrinkled look that develops over time. This in turn opens up the area around the eyes, reversing any visual problems and improves the overall look of the face and brow. You will look fresher, brighter and younger if this is your problem area.

FAQs

What is brow lifting and what can it achieve?

The brow lifting procedure lifts the tissues of the forehead to a higher position, this raises the eyebrows and opens the upper eyelid to give a younger, fresher appearance. The muscles at the top of the nose can also be weakened to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles in that area.

What does a brow lift involve?

A brow lift is performed under general anaesthetic and usually requires an overnight stay in hospital. The surgery itself takes approximately 1½ -2 hours to complete. The surgeon will assess you during your consultation prior to day of surgery and will use a technique suited entirely to your facial structure, skin condition and hairline.

All of this information will help determine where the incisions will be made in order to minimise visible scars.

What is recovery like after brow lift surgery?

Straight after surgery you should get plenty of rest for 2-3 days as you will experience some swelling and bruising that should settle down 1-2 weeks after surgery and many patients are able to return to normal activities at that stage. More major surgery may require a longer recovery period so it’s important to discuss this with your surgeon.

It is not uncommon to have a headache after surgery and you will be provided with suitable pain killing medication. If you suffer from migraines a brow lift has been known to improved symptoms.
Recovery from brow lift surgery

It is usually possible to return to work within 10-14 days. The stitches will be removed within 10 days. The surgeon will ensure that scars are hidden under the hairline and are usually minimal, fading over 4-6 months. Are there any risks associated with brow lift surgery?

It’s worth asking your surgeon about complications at your consultation. Brow lift surgery will provide a more youthful appearance, however aging still continues and further rejuvenating surgery, perhaps after 10-15 years, will help fight this aging process.
