Rhinoplasty London

Whether your nose feels too big or too small, crooked, pointy or bulbous, rhinoplasty surgery can alter and enhance its size and shape in several ways.

Rhinoplasty, commonly called a nose job, is one of the most popular forms of cosmetic surgery to improve and refine the nose. Your consultant surgeon will discuss your requirements and create a natural, aesthetically pleasing nose in proportion to the rest of your face.

Rhinoplasty requires careful consideration of all facial features, which your surgeon will consider during a thorough consultation and examination.

Your rhinoplasty journey with MyBreast

Before your rhinoplasty surgery, you’ll have a thorough consultation with your surgeon. They’ll discuss the types of rhinoplasty available, as well as your aims, so we can provide you with the personalised care you need. We’ll also discuss your medical history and health to ensure you’re well enough for surgery.

After your rhinoplasty, we’ll provide all the information you need to recover at home. Feel free to ask us any questions at any time. We’re here to help from the moment you get in touch to your recovery – and beyond.

How do I know if rhinoplasty is right for me?

At MyBreast, our patients go through several steps to ensure their suitability for the procedure. Several consultations with your personal Patient Adviser and surgeon will ensure we meet your expectations.

All surgical procedures come with risks. However, our thorough consultation process means we will fully inform you and identify any risks as early as possible. We’ll only proceed if we feel it’s in your best interests and the benefits outweigh any risks.

We’ll never compromise your health and will always tell you if we think you’re not a suitable candidate. At MyBreast, we keep your wellbeing and safety at the forefront of everything we do.

Types of rhinoplasty at MyBreast

We offer several types of rhinoplasty to meet your needs.

Many rhinoplasty procedures involve adding tissue in the form of grafts to increase the size or build upon the shape of the nose. A graft also supports the nose and makes the results as natural as possible. This surgery is called augmentation rhinoplasty.

The surgeon will take a graft of bone or cartilage from your body. They may harvest bone from the hip, rib, elbow or outer surface of the skull, which will not affect the donor bone.

Alternatively, surgeons can retrieve cartilage from the ear or inside of the nose. Although we can successfully apply synthetic materials, using your tissue prevents the possibility of rejection, which may occur when surgeons insert a foreign material into the body. They will perform the procedure as primary rhinoplasty with the addition of a graft.

What happens during rhinoplasty surgery?

We use two main techniques:

  • - The closed approach – the surgeon makes an incision within the nostrils
  • - The open approach – the surgeon makes an incision across the columella (the vertical tissue separating the nostrils)

Our surgeons can achieve excellent results with both approaches, and their chosen technique will depend on your circumstances.

Your surgeon will separate the skin of the nose from its supporting framework of bone and cartilage, and then sculpt it to the desired shape.

Rhinoplasty is highly personal, and the surgeon will tailor the sculpting process to the exact problem you have.

They’ll redrape skin over the new framework at the surgery’s end and apply small, mouldable splints. These must remain in place for several days.

On the day

On the day of your procedure, our friendly hospital team will welcome you. Your dedicated nurse will take you to your private room, where you will also see your surgeon and anaesthetist before surgery.

We typically ask you to arrive a few hours before the procedure to take observations and check you’re well enough. We’ll also give you time to relax and settle any nerves.

Rhinoplasty uses a general anaesthetic, meaning you will be completely asleep during the procedure.

After the procedure

After the procedure, the recovery team will ensure you’re fit and well before returning you to your private room.

Initial bruising and swelling should subside after one to two weeks. However, some swelling may last for several months.

While complications are rare, in approximately 5% of cases, patients may require further surgery to adjust any minor irregularities and asymmetries.

FAQs

You will likely need two weeks off work to feel back to normal. However, it can take up to six months before your swelling reduces entirely and you’re able to see your results.
