Fat Transfer to the Breasts

Fat transfer to the breasts is a highly effective procedure that enhances the size and shape of your breasts using fat taken from elsewhere on your body via liposuction. This tends to be from the stomach or thighs, so has the added benefit of sculpting other parts of your body which have stubborn areas of fat.

If you are looking for a fuller bust, but implants are not for you, this placement of fat can help rejuvenate sagging or aging breasts, using only your own body fat, rather than implants. It can also be used to correct asymmetric breasts, providing subtle enhancement. Fat transfer is a natural solution to restore volume and shape to your breasts that may have been lost due to ageing, weight loss, pregnancy or breast feeding.

FAQs

How do I know if this procedure is right for me?
Fat transfer to the breasts isn’t right for everyone as you’ll need to have enough fat to transfer. This will be discussed at your consultation where your surgeon will assess your donor sites and if you are not suitable there are alternatives.

All surgical procedures come with risks however our thorough consultation process will ensure you are fully informed and any risks identified. We will only proceed if we feel it is in your best interests and any risks are outweighed by the benefits.

If we do not feel that you are a suitable candidate, we will always be open, honest, and transparent. At MyBreast, we keep your wellbeing and safety at the forefront of what we do.

How long does fat transfer last?

A small amount of the fat may be absorbed into your body after the fat transfer has taken place. Generally fat transfer to the breast is permanent however for best results, it is important to maintain your weight at the same level it was when you had surgery.

How is fat transfer done?

The operation involves fat being liposuctioned from one part of the body and injected into the breast.

Your surgeon will agree with you an area where you’d like to take fat from and discuss what breast augmentation outcome you may be able to achieve.

Is Fat Transfer painful?

Some patients experience some discomfort during the recovery period however pain relief will be provided for you to take home from the hospital on the day of your procedure.

Is fat transfer used on other parts of the body?

Fat transfer can also be used to provide volume to other areas of the body such as the face. This is generally known as lipomodelling.

Fat transfer can also be used alongside other procedures to maintain a natural look with a larger increase in breast size. For example combining breast implants with fat transfer.

Which is better fat transfer or breast implants?

At your consultation your surgeon will discuss the look you would like to achieve and how best to achieve it. There is no "Best" option for all patients, between yourself and the surgeon you will be able to define what is right for you.

What happens on the day of my procedure?

One the day of your procedure, you will be welcomed by our friendly hospital team. Your dedicated nurse will take you to your private room where you will also see your surgeon and anaesthetist before your surgery.

We normally ask patients to arrive a few hours before their procedure takes place so observations can be taken to ensure you are fit and well and you are given time to relax and settle any nerves.

What happens after the procedure?

Once the procedure is complete, the recovery team will ensure you are fit and well before taking you back to your private room. Your post-surgical garment will be provided for you and will be in situ when you wake up.

You will only be discharged once you are eating, drinking and medically fit enough to leave the hospital. It is important to have someone available to collect you from the hospital and stay with you for 24 hours following your surgery.

After your procedure you will have some bruising around the liposuction sites but this will disappear in a matter of weeks.

You will also be required to wear a compression garment for 6 weeks following surgery.

When can I wear a bra after fat transfer?

You will be required to wear a compression garment for 6 weeks following your procedure. This is normally recommended to give support to your breasts and allow the body’s natural healing process to take place. You can return to normal bras after the 6 weeks period providing your surgeon is happy with your progress.

How much does Fat Transfer cost?

At MyBreast we understand patients are individual, and we will therefore tailor a holistic package to ensure it is right for you. For this reason, a comprehensive package price will be provided after a thorough consultation and assessment with your surgeon has taken place.

We will be honest and transparent and ensure there are no hidden costs. Your package will always include everything from pre assessment and consultations to hospital stay and aftercare.

How else can I get a natural looking breast enlargement?

Natural looking Breast Enlargement can also be achieved through breast implants. There are hundreds of different shapes and sized implants available to create a natural look. Your surgeon will discuss the options for you to make an informed decision.
